| President's
Message
On behalf of the Beachburg Agricultural
Society, the Board of Directors, committee members and the
many other volunteers who have a part in putting the Fair
together; we want to encourage you to come out to experience
what a rural Fair has to offer.
This years theme is Celebrating Our
Rural Roots.
The tradition of an agricultural Fair
can be traced back to England, where many of our farming ancestors
are from. Agricultural Societies were formed to promote better
farming practices, show new products, and show livestock and
food. As our ancestors settled in Canada to farm, they
eventually began to continue those traditions. Beachburg’s
first Fair was in 1857, around the time when many Agricultural
Societies set out to educate and entertain it’s agricultural
people. Today the fair also helps to educate the urban community,
who would not otherwise be exposed to agriculture.
As we continue the annual tradition
of the Fair, we remember the many previous volunteers who
dedicated their time to continue this tradition. These people
are our roots who have established a rural tradition well
worth maintaining.
This year is Beachburg’s 175th
Birthday and their 153rd Fair.Come out to help us celebrate.
